Inference Engine
- Full name: GEON Gridder Service
- URL: http://cedar.se.cs.utep.edu/wsdl_docs/GridderService.wsdl
- Description in English: nearneighbor reads arbitrarily located (x,y,z[,w]) triples [quadruplets] from standard input [or xyzfile(s)] and uses a nearest neighbor algorithm to assign an average value to each node that have one or more points within a radius centered on the node. The average value is computed as a weighted mean of the nearest point from each sector inside the search radius. The weighting function used is w(r) = 1 / (1 + d ^ 2), where d = 3 * r / search_radius and r is distance from the node. This weight is modulated by the observation points weights [if supplied].

- Name: GMT - The Generic Mapping Tools Team
- Description in English: GMT is an open source collection of ~60 tools for manipulating geographic and Cartesian data sets (including filtering, trend fitting, gridding, projecting, etc.) and producing Encapsulated PostScript File (EPS) illustrations ranging from simple x-y plots via contour maps to artificially illuminated surfaces and 3-D perspective views. GMT supports ~30 map projections and transformations and comes with support data such as coastlines, rivers, and political boundaries. GMT is developed and maintained by Paul Wessel and Walter H. F. Smith with help from a global set of volunteers, and is supported by the National Science Foundation. It is released under the GNU General Public License.
